New Baby

Since many of you have been sharing about your new babies, in the oven new babies :), or other relatives of which you are proud, I thought I'd share MY new baby with ya'll! First off, I must share the sad tale of how I came about receiving this new addition...
The majority of you know I am a major picture freak. Pretty much any trip I have taken in the last 10 years is thoroughly captured by photographs, and yes, to some of you that was an annoyance, I know! haha Although, others of you, such as Robert Meeks for instance, have eventually come to thank me and even crossed over to my side and that makes me happy! Ok, so I have only had 2 cameras (maybe 3) die on me during the course of these wonderful 10 years of photographic bliss, one of which was during my summer team travels and was very sad...but that's another story! haha However, just over a month ago a tragic thing happened.
It was the night of my graduation party, June 17 to be exact. I had taken my camera out and brought it downstairs to have close by in case I wanted to use it. Now, I can't remember the last time I used it before this. I did not end up using my camera that night as we used my parents instead, but mine sat safely on the kitchen cupboard....or at least I thought it did. The next day, I turned my camera on and gasped in horror at what I saw on my screen. There was a rather large blotch and many spider webb like lines which came out on all sides of this gross blotch. The LCD screen was broken, actually quite smashed! I was devastated to say the least! The camera was only 6 months old. It was the first digital camera I had and was a Christmas gift from my parents. Now, I have no clue how the damage was done. I am not sure if something happened to it before the night of my graduation party or if somehow something happened during the party. I'll never know and choose not to lay the blame on anyone but myself.
Seeing as I still had 3 1/2 more years on the warranty, I took it in to Future Shop to see what could be done. I was told that because it was the screen that was damaged (and was the only thing damaged. It still worked fine and there was no external damage), it was automatically deemed physical damage and therefore not covered under warranty. I was NOT impressed! They did send it away to Sony in hopes that they may say that there was some internal malfunction and could fix it. About 4 weeks passed and we hadn't heard from either Sony or Future Shop so we called. They told us the camera was not covered and would cost over $269.00 to fix!!! The camera itself was only $299!!! They also told us that it needed to be paid by the following day in order to have it fixed! Thanks for informing us of that!! Anyway, so mom and I went up to decide what to do. We were only going to fix it if they wouldn't transfer the warranty to another camera. THANKFULLY I had a wonderful Assistant Manager to work with and she said she would transfer the existing warranty, but I would lose the 6 months that had already gone by. When I went back to look at the cameras, they had nothing like my broken camera, and only 2 cameras which would take my same memory stick. So, I decided to use my graduation money and upgrade! I got a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H5 and it is pretty sweet, I think at least!! :) I love it!! It has a 7.2-megapixel CCD imager and extra-large, three-inch LCD screen, Carl Zeiss® Vario-Tessar 12x optical zoom lense and focal length ranges of 36 to 432 millimeters (35 mm equivalence). It also has a Super SteadyShot® optical image stabilization. Those are the details for those of you who care about that! :) They even started my warranty fresh so I have 4 complete years!! Yipee! So, that is my camera adventure!
