Energy Mustered
Today I seem to have found the energy to overcome my "writer's block" (maybe I should call it "blogger's block!") and have also decided to to create my first blog list (exciting I know!) in an effort to sum up the past 1 1/2 months of which I have neglected my little blog. :)1. On June 10, I wrote my second State Certificaton Exam (Praxis II) in Presque Isle. It was an Elementary Content Knowledge exam covering Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts. Although it was brutal to study for and exhausting to write, I received my grade last week and I scored significantly higher than the pass mark. I was extremly happy about that! No more cert. exams....at least I hope!!
2. My parents threw me a Graduation Party (for BBC & UMPI) on June 17. Although there were only 5 1/2 guests, aside from myself, who were under the age of 40 (Missy Mowbray, Johnny Sherwood, Liz, Mark, Emily, & Unborn Baby Brewer) out of 25ish guests, it was still a lot of fun. I received some nice gifts and a lot of money which was cool. It was nice to see everyone.....even if they were all my parents friends due to the fact that all of mine currently live in many different provinces and states!
3. I baby-sat Emily Brewer while Liz was in the hospital during the birth of Baby Abby and was quite worried that the poor thing was permanently scarred due to the traumatizing separation from her dear parents for the better part of 3 days and would never want to see me again!! However, she seems to be warming back up to me again (YAY!) and no longer believes I'm going to take her away from her family every time she sees me! She has also transitioned from calling me "Ah-Mee" to "Amy" and is talking more and more all the time! She still ranks #1 as my favorite kid! My brother thinks she is the funniest kid he's ever known and I might just have to agree with him. "Righty Tighty Em!" :)
4. I spent the Canada Day long weeked in Presque Isle visiting my friends from UMPI. It was a lot of fun. I stayed with my friend Sarah and we forced all our American friends to celebrate Canada Day with us with a little party we threw. It was also great to see Julia Giggie and the Erskine's for a couple quick visits while I was there as well!
5. On July 5, I had the opportunity to attend the National Federal/Provincial/Territorial Minister's of Health Conference as "Note Taker" for work. It was at the Delta Fredericton Hotel and was quite an honour to be chosen as summer students generally do not get such privileges. The food was delicious and it was a really neat experience for me as well as being a pretty neat event to attend. Mind you I don't think I'd enjoy doing that all the time.... my neck pretty much killed me the next day due to the intense typing and I think I'd be bored out of my mind if I went to any more of them! haha
6. Next comes Beulah Camp. It was great to see everyone who was there. I had a lot of fun hanging out with friends I don't get to see very often anymore as well as visiting with relatives who live away. However, my family was faced with an unexpected tragedy when one of my brother's close friends from Moncton was killed in a car accident the first Sunday of camp. It was very difficult to see my brother experience pain like that and was a hard thing for me as well because I did know him a little from being at Caton's Island with him some. Matt was the first friend either Grant or I had lost. However, Matt lived an amazing, God-centered life and his funeral was the most incredible thing I've ever attended in my life. I know that every single teenager (and adult for that matter) left the church that day a changed person.
Beulah also brought with it the annual Ordination Service. This year was a little more of interest to myself because Mark Brewer, Jeremiah Gomez, and Wayne Doiron were being ordained. It was neat to be a part of their special day. I also enjoyed much good food and fellowship at Mark and Jeremiah’s parties! :) Congrats Reverend guys!!
7. I like my summer job (mostly). I am working for the Dept. of Health in the Planning & Medicare Services branch. It's mostly clerical stuff, but it isn't bad the majority of the time. I enjoy (most of) the people I work with and have a lot of fun with them most days. One thing I am having to do is use my French from time to time (generally on the phone). But I find it so frustrating that I can "speak" beautiful French in my head when I think about conversations or think about what I would say in French if I were talking to someone, but when it comes time to actually doing it, I get all toungue tied and sound like an idiot sometimes! I forget the simplest of terms at points!! Then there are other times when I feel like I am doing great and then the person switches to English on me. It's like they figure out that I'm English and then just start talking to me in Eng. It's kind of insulting I think! The ones I'm messing up and can't fully understand what they are saying in French, insist on talking French to me and then the ones I am comprehending and do feel the conversation is going fairly well, they switch on me! I can't win!!
8. Well, that about sums up my life this summer so far. Only 5 more weeks of work for me and then I start my Student Teaching (2nd time around…). Time is going by way too fast!!

Thanks for the update. Your life sounds busy!
As for Emily, I understand completely. Kara Klob knows me as the lady who takes her away from her parents. I saw her a few weeks ago and she still remembered after a year! But she is fun when she is around her parents and I am there. Kids!
A very nice list indeed. Life seems very full for you. Thanks for the update Amy.
