So Much Time and No One To Spend It With

There are good things and bad things about being a substitute teacher. I think the best thing is that I don't have to work every day. Part of me is very much enjoying having a slower paced life after 5 1/2 years of college/university and 12 years of public schooling. However, the downside is that I spend days and days on end sitting at my house alone. I have only substituted 4 days in the past 4 weeks and have spent all but a very few of those days cooped up at home. Sure, there are places I COULD go, I just have little to no desire to go to them by myself. I could go wander the malls, or drive around, or go sit at a coffee shop. But none of those things appeal to me unless I am doing those things with a friend. I have few friends left here in the city but they are all sooooo busy with their own lives that I just can't seem to find a time where they are available to spend time with. Oh, how I long for the days when the majority of my friend's were only a short walk across the hallway in the dorm or a little walk across campus. You think that life will only get better after school, but mine just seems to keep getting lonelier.

So, to all my dear friend's out there, I miss you and pray that the Lord blesses you wherever you are today. I long for the days when He brings us together, even if only for short visits at a time.

"After David had finished talking with Saul, he met Jonathan, the king's son. There was an immediate bond of love between them, and they became the best of friends." (1 Sam. 18:1)

"A bowl of soup with someone you love is better than steak with someone you hate." (Prov. 15:17)

"Wounds from a friend are better than many kisses from an enemy." (Prov. 27:6)

"The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense." (Prov. 27:9)

I am praying that God will provide time with your present friends, give you new ones with a schedule similar to yours and give you a full time teaching position. What grade would you prefer? Lower elementary is the best in my opinion!!! Heehee~ I am biased. It was very good to see you last weekend at Hillside!

Oh Friend! If I was there I would go to the mall and coffee shops with you but unfortunately I am not. And, we barely got to see each other at Hillside :( I hope the Lord brings you people to spend time with and that we get to see each other soon! Love you!

Your heart has always been so tender, Amy :) Never forget that, even though it hurts sometimes, that tender heart is a gift from God. It reflects a part of His image in a unique way. You're like a prism that captures the light of Christ in a perfectly beautiful and unique way. Keep letting that light shine! Keep loving as an expression of God's love. And even though you will often relate to Him in the matter of grief and sorrow, He will keep bringing you into His grace and love that somehow sustained Jesus trough all of his suffering and rejection. His great heart will sustain yours in perfect love that casts out all fear and loneliness :)

All my love,
Natasha
